2013 Wrath Destruction Level, Syrah-Grenache-Cinsault
In antiquity, the wrath of a victorious army often left cities burnt to the ground; the charred remnants of once great civilizations. Such was the case with the Greek destruction of Troy or the Roman obliteration of Carthage. Thousands of years later, these events show up as dark carbon-filled strata, or destruction levels, in the archaeological record. The subtle smoky quality that permeates the Wrath Destruction Level Rhone Blend- which utilizes 20 percent whole cluster fermentation and only neutral oak to preserve the inherent quality of the grape- is an ode to the smoke-filled smell of victory that greeted the victorious generals of the classical world. Our 2013 Destruction Level is an authoritative blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault. The aromatics are feral and animalistic with Syrah clearly in the forefront. The Grenache and Cinsault make their presence known on the palate where they soften the attack and flesh out the middle. The tannins are quite soft and the finish is rich and voluptuous.
