Vineyard Notes
Though our estate vineyard shares the same soil as the SLH AVA- Arroyo Gravelly Loam and Hanford Gravelly Sandy Loam- its slightly lower altitude gives it a unique microclimate with cooler nights and warmer days. This helps our grapes develop a spicy character along with its dark fruit. The cooler nights allow the grapes to retain their acidity which keeps flavors beautifully balanced.
Production Notes
Produced using only specifically selected barrels; out of over 120 barrels tasted, 16 are chosen to create the "best of the vintage". The final result for this year is a blend of 23% each clones 828 and Swan, 16% Pommard 4, 11% each clones 115 and 667, 8% clone 113 and 4% each clones 91 and 943.
Winemaker Notes
All our Single Vineyard Pinot bottlings go through a similar production regimen. This allows the focus to be on the terroir of each vineyard.
